DrDane > 9392 Flying honey bee and apple blossoms, Ashland, Oregon - April 2007. Trying to catch a flying bee in sharp focus is a challenging sport! Sadly, honey bees are reported to be disappearing in the US, for an unknown reason, though many think it's the result of human agricultural practices (pesticides, etc), or human-induced stress (many colonies are now hauled across the country in huge trucks for crop pollination.

Late afternoon sun is under-lighting the growing cloud bank and brightening the fields & hills. You can see the earthen dam in the lower center, and a strip of the lake behind it. The predominant tree on the hillsides is the Oregon White Oak. Elevation about 2100 ft.

The predominant tree on the hillsides is the Oregon White Oak. Mixed oak and manzanita chaparral provide cover on the low butte in the middle of the valley. Grizzly Peak is partly covered with clouds in the background, and Corp Ranch is in the foreground, center. Valley elevation about 2100 ft.
